Photos: SARS gun down three dare devil armed robbers in Imo State

A combined team of Special Anti Robbery Squad and Police Mobile Force of the Imo State command shot dead two members of daredevil armed robbery gang on Wednesday.






The incident occurred around 2am in Ezi- Ogbaku, in the Mbaitoli Local Government Area of the state.
It was gathered that the robbers were moving from house to house robbing residents.

Responding to a distress call, the SARS commander, Victor Godfrey , mobilised his men to the scene of the crime and in the ensuing gun battle, two of the robbers were gunned down while three others escaped with gunshot injuries around 2am.

Addressing newsmen at the police headquarters in Owerri, Spokesperson of the Command, SP Andrew Enwerem, confirmed that three of the five -man gang fled with gunshot injuries.





"In the early hours of Wednesday , the operatives of the Federal Special Anti- Robbery Squad of the Imo State Police Command received a distress call that armed robbers were operating at Ezi- Ogbaku. SARS , in conjunction with the Police Mobile Force officers, responded to the emergency around 2am" said the spokesperson.

"The teams encountered the five armed robbers, who opened fire on the policemen. The officers responded, which led to the death of two of the hoodlums, while three fled with gunshot injuries." he added.

A locally made double barrel shot gun, two expanded cartridges and two live cartridges were recovered from the slain criminals.
